For years, our society sent a single message to students: success meant earning a four-year college degree. While college is the right path for many, it isn’t the only path to a successful and rewarding career.
Today, that conversation is changing.
Career & Technical Education (CTE) is making a powerful comeback, and it’s happening because employers, educators, workforce agencies, and communities recognize that our future depends on developing a skilled workforce. Across the country, students are discovering exciting careers in healthcare, advanced manufacturing, information technology, construction, transportation, public safety, culinary arts, education, and dozens of other high-demand industries.
This isn’t the vocational education of the past.
Today’s CTE classrooms are filled with cutting-edge technology, industry-recognized certifications, dual credit opportunities, and hands-on learning that prepares students for both college and careers. Students are graduating with real-world experience, valuable technical skills, and a clearer understanding of where they want to go after high school. But classroom learning alone isn’t enough.
Students need opportunities to step into the workplace, meet professionals, and experience careers firsthand. Employers need opportunities to connect with future talent before workforce shortages become even greater. Workforce agencies need stronger partnerships that align education with industry needs. That’s where collaboration changes everything.

Our Give Me TEN initiative was built around one simple idea: connect students with employers through meaningful career exploration in real workplaces. Those experiences help students discover careers they may never have considered while giving employers an opportunity to inspire the next generation of skilled professionals.
Career & Technical Education is more than learning a trade. It’s about helping students discover their strengths, build confidence, develop employability skills, and create a pathway toward lifelong success.
